Together with Chile’s President of the Republic, ISA INTERCHILE officially inaugurates the country’s most important energy transmission project
The Cardones- Polpaico Transmission Line, main transporter of renewable energies in the energy matrix of Chile, was inaugurated in the Atacama Region. It was attended by the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera; the CEO of the ISA Group, Bernardo Vargas; the Ministers of Energy and Economy, Juan Carlos Jobet and Juan Andrés Fontaine; and more than 200 guests.
This important energy milestone allows achieving the real and complete interconnection of the 500kV National Energy System that will benefit approximately 6 million Chilean homes, who will now have access to clean energy, responsible to the planet.
“Cardones-Polpaico makes us take a historic step for our country, as it will allow us to incorporate clean, carbon-free energy.” This interconnection is something that Chile has been dreaming of for 50 years, and today we can finally say that we have integrated our energy systems into a National Interconnected System. Undoubtedly, this will bring great benefits for Chilean families and is a great step towards a clean and sustainable Chile,” said Sebastián Piñera, president of the Republic, at the opening ceremony.
