ISA included in the top 10 energy companies of the Dow Jones Index

For the sixth consecutive year, the company was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which recognizes the companies with the best performance in environmental, social, and economic criteria worldwide.
ISA reached the highest score in Innovation, Social Reporting, Environmental Reporting, and Climate Strategy criteria.
This announcement ratifies the company’s commitment to generating sustainable value for shareholders and stakeholders, bringing positive environmental and social impacts, and maintaining business sustainability.
ISA was included again in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), which consolidates the company as a reference in the region thanks to its environmental, social, economic, and corporate governance practices. The company was among the top 10 Energy Utility Companies in the world. 100 companies were assessed in the Emerging Markets category. The company got the 5th place in the Social ranking and the 8th place in the Environmental ranking.

ISA was also included, for the fourth consecutive year, in the Dow Jones’ MILA (Mercado Integrado Latinoamericano) index, which recognizes the companies with the best sustainability practices within the Pacific Alliance including Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.

“We are very happy and proud, as an index as important as the Dow Jones has recognized our efforts to contribute, in a tangible way, to the development of the countries where we are present. This way, we comply with our stakeholders and support our programs and projects in causes as urgent as climate change and, recently, mitigation of the pandemic, thus protecting life and helping reactivate the economy. We feel more committed than ever, and we believe that companies will only be viable if their environment is viable,” Bernardo Vargas Gibsone, ISA’s CEO, said about this announcement.

Regarding the social, economic, and environmental criteria rated by the Index, ISA showed an outstanding performance in all of them, which ratifies the company’s coherence with its ISA2030 Strategy.

Regarding the Economic dimension, Innovation (open innovation processes, aligned with the business and new opportunities) and Climate Strategy (proactive management of companies in mitigation and adaptation actions) stand out. These criteria reached the highest score.

The Social dimension showed very positive results regarding the different perspectives of Human Talent: labor rights, attraction, retention, and development (going up by approximately 15 points with respect to the previous year). The Social Reporting criteria got the highest possible score (100 points), after assessing the company’s coverage of initiatives and programs.

In the Environmental dimension, ISA achieved outstanding results for Climate Strategy (100 points) and Biodiversity (staying at 92 points). Improved scores within these criteria are mainly due to the development of the Conexión Jaguar project initiatives. Conexión Jaguar received this year the Best Corporate Offsetting Project award by the Environmental Finance Awards 2020, which recognizes the best stakeholders of the voluntary carbon market. Eco-efficiency also showed a significant improvement of 51 points.

ISA obtained outstanding results in the DJSI’s Emerging Markets category, especially for ethics and transparency practices (95), and human rights and corporate citizenship (95 points).

Being included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index shows that ISA is a safe, responsible, and sustainable investment in the long term for its investors and all stakeholders, thus opening the door to new possibilities in the region.
